Saturation Diving Best Gear & Tier List
12 items ranked · confirmed effects only · checked 2026-08-30How this list is ranked
Saturation Diving publishes no gear statistics: there is no public damage, speed or price data anywhere — official or community. So this tier list ranks gear on what is actually confirmed: the in-game monster log's warnings (which tools anger which monsters), official badge requirements (what the developer considers an achievement), and documented in-game behaviour. Anything unconfirmed, like the community-mentioned Cobalt Pick, stays off the list or is flagged — we never invent numbers.
Tier S — Define your survival
The purchases that change whether you come back up.
Nickel Pickaxe
The first pickaxe upgrade and the gate to every deeper dive — mining is the whole game loop, so your pickaxe is your progression.
Tier SPressure Recovery Upgrade
Turns crouching — the move that evades Crownspine and most predators — into stamina regeneration. Stealth and recovery in one slot.
Tier SLightweight Upgrade
Run and swim longer. When a Grimreef or Mothray Eel is behind you, extra stamina is extra life.
Tier A — Strong picks
Confirmed value in co-op, economy and defence.
Harpoon Gun
The bell's weapon and the only confirmed way to kill a Grimreef that walks into your home. Five shots dropped one.
Tier AStorage Upgrade
More Sanguinite per dive means faster upgrades — a snowball purchase that pays for the rest of the list.
Tier ASonar
Free with the bell, priceless with a crew: the operator who stays aboard sees what your divers cannot. Just remember Balor and the crabs are radar-invisible.
Tier B — Double-edged light
Useful tools with a built-in downside the monster log warns about.
Flashlight
Spotting a Lantern Star before it spots you is everything — but every strong light risks triggering a Mothray Eel.
Tier BFlare
A one-use emergency light. The log is blunt about eels: do not throw flares near them — they know who placed it.
Tier BFlood Light / Wave Maker
Same light problem as the flare, in a bulkier package. Function still only partially documented.
Tier C — Situational & late-game
Buy them for the badge, the lore or the look — not the meta.
P.L.O.P
Badge-confirmed buyable throwable with no public damage or price. Community consensus says bomb; a Scuttlergoliath says nothing happened.
Tier CMusic Box
Endgame collectible behind the rarest badge in the game (roughly 0.0% of players). You hunt tapes for the memory, not the meta.
Tier CElite Diver Lite
The only gamepass: premium suits and accessories plus +15% Pearls. Cosmetic-plus so far — Pearls' role is still unverified.
The one rule the tier list hides
Light is a weapon that aims both ways. The Flashlight, Flare and Flood Light all rank lower than their obvious usefulness because the monster log confirms the Mothray Eel hunts light sources — in the deep sites, knowing when not to shine is part of the gear skill. That is also why the suit upgrades rank S: darkness and stillness are the real endgame.
